Movie - 17 Again

What it's about

Mike O'donnell (Zac Efron 17, Matthew Perry 37) has a promising future at 17 but chooses to put his newly pregnant girlfriend ahead of his dreams. 20 years later they are in the process of splitting up and Mike wishes he could do it all over again. He gets his wish and, although everything around him is 2009 he is 17 again and heading back to school to try again.

What i thought

Cute film, the 'miraculous' age switch has happened before but this was a nice take on the genre. Some genuinely funny moments, Mike's daughter coming on to the new young Mike has hilarious and eww in the same scene.
I liked the film, although i have to say, at 30, i felt as if i was very much older than this film was meant for. Maybe one for the teens

Tess Stimpson - The Adultery Club

What it's about

Nicholas Lyon, contented husband of Mal, a cookery writer meets Sara Kaplan, bright and vivacious new young lawyer at his firm. The chemisty between Nicholas and Sara is palpable and after experiancing a terrorist attack together Nicholas throws caution to the wind. Meanwhile Mal is facing temptation of her own in the shape of a gorgeous ex

What i thought

Having read Tess Stimpson's books before i was fully looking forward to it. The story was great but it was peppered with jokes and funny stories that have done their rounds on the internet. heard the one about the woman on her way to the gynacologist who accidentally washes 'down there' with a flannel full of sparkles? what about all those funny things kids write down at school? we all know the punchlines to these and many others which appear in this book. if it wasn't for that this book would have been great but this feels like Tess Stimpson wrote this in a hurry and was lazy about coming up with her own jokes. Ultimately very dissapointing

Amanda Brown - Family Trust

What it's about

Becca Reinhart lives to work until a tragic accident leaves her joint guardian of four-year-old Emily. Edward Kirkland is a rich and extremely eligible bachelor, and Becca's co-guardian. They make an unlikely pair but brought together by their love for Emily what happens next is almost inevitable

What I thought

Knowing that it's from the same author as Legally Blonde i expected greatness and this book didn't dissapoint. Loved the evil scheming Bunny and Edward's ice cold mother. I thought i wouldn't like Becca being a career focussed girl but the love shown to Emily shines through. great feel good book

Zoe Barnes - Be my Baby

What it's about

Lorna is happily married mother of one looking forward to reaching the magic 12 week marker in her current pregnancy before telling her husband there is a new baby on the way. Fate intervenes and she never gets the chance to tell him.
18 months later her mum and dad need to move in and Lorna uses the opportunity to return to the workforce as a midwife and her parents look after the children.
She doesn't count on mishaps, arguments, exhausted parents and their disapproval when Lorna announces she's ready to start dating again.

What i thought

Loved this book, close to my heart being a mother of 2 and interested in midwifery. The tradgedy of Lorna's story and the human spirit that eventually shines through is great. The 'tart with a heart' best friend is fantastic too
